What is it?

Stock control is more than just storage and knowing how much stock there is. It also ensures a cost-effective way to organise distribution.

We operate an online stock call-off system for many of our customers, enabling longer, more economical print runs to be produced and stored in our warehouse.

Items to be stored are boxed, labelled and given a stock address on our system which enables rapid picking of items called-off.

We also provide online customer stock control where the customer has access to a pass-worded internet-based stock control system which automatically notifies Mayfield of the stock call-offs and delivery details. The system is also able to prompt re-orders as pre-agreed minimum stock levels are reached.

Case Study
We have worked with an internationally known pharmaceutical company over the last 15 years and for the last seven years, we have offered them a stock control/ordering and distribution service.

Print orders are processed in the usual manner, but instead of being sent to a central facility for storage, we store these projects on our premises. These items are then coded and added to a stock site for the client. Via a link to their bespoke web site the client can then go online and order specific items in any quantities and can arrange delivery to any destination local, EU or worldwide

This is typically how it works. A marketing manager, one of 50, will login using his / her own login details, view the stock site where they will see a thumbnail image, and view a pdf of the items required. A quantity is selected and each product will have an order quantity limit pre-determined, so managers cannot over order on any item. Orders are then completed online and a time and delivery address is set up. Once this is done, the system will generate an order and delivery note instruction to Mayfield Press along with email confirmations to the client.

Orders are then processed, picked and packed at Mayfield Press and distributed via one of our courier companies that offer a next day tracked delivery and proof of delivery.

The system automatically flags low or out of stock items and can produce reports showing the client how many particular items have been ordered over a period of time and by whom.
